Maastrichtse Golf & Country Club sits high on the Dousberg — more than 90 metres above sea level, one of the highest-elevation courses in the Netherlands, with wide views that reach across the border into Belgium. This is a 27-hole parkland course, laid out by Steve Marnoch as three nine-hole loops so you can mix and match your round. The club’s own website records a par of 72 and gives its layout a championship character: fairways that ask for a thought before every shot, greens that reward a player who plans.
Golfers rate it warmly. On LeadingCourses it holds 7.8 out of 10 from 856 golfer ratings, and on Hole19 it scores 4.3 out of 5 across 79 reviews (checked 25 September 2026). Those are strong numbers for a course of this size, and they line up with what the club presents: a serious, well-kept parkland test that still feels welcoming.
Suits: experienced golfers who enjoy a course that makes them think will feel most at home across these three loops. But do not let “championship” put you off if you are earlier in your golf. The club genuinely opens its doors to beginners and juniors, and the practice side is built for exactly that.
You will need a valid handicap (GVB) to play here — the club is NGF-affiliated and works on an introduction basis, so it is best to reach out before you come. Visitors are welcome and tee times can be booked online at golfclubmaastricht.nl. The club lists a green fee of €88.50 for 18 holes and €50 for 9, and the course stays open year-round.
The practice facilities are a real strength. There is a covered, floodlit driving range you can use in any weather and after dark, a putting green, a dedicated short-game area, practice bunkers, and a full golf academy on site. For a player who wants to build real skill, that is everything you need in one place.
★ Suits: experienced players who enjoy a strategic, thinking course, and beginners and juniors building real skills with the on-site academy.

Marina's note for learners
Before playing a championship layout I focus on shot placement and calm decision-making — the skills a course like this rewards most. The covered floodlit range and full golf academy on site give every learner the right environment to prepare properly.

Marnoch’s championship layout asks for control more than raw power — placing the ball on the right side of a fairway, then trusting a repeatable swing into these greens. That balance of accuracy and calm decision-making is the part of the game I most enjoy teaching before a player takes on a course like this one.

Marina is a PGA-certified instructor who teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen, not in Maastricht. A lesson with her is a great way to work on shot placement and decision-making before tackling a strategic course like this one.
