Polder and park, two loops

Golfclub Westerpark sits in Zoetermeer, in the green belt between The Hague and Rotterdam. From the club’s own description, it is a parkland course laid out as two nine-hole loops — 18 holes, par 71, around 5,474 metres — with open fairways, water in play and gentle elevation changes across polder and park land. For the middle of the busy Randstad, it stays green and quiet.

Golfers rate it warmly. On LeadingCourses it holds 6.8 out of 10 from 611 ratings, and on Hole19 4.1 out of 5 from 166 ratings (checked 26 September 2026) — steady scores for a course people come back to.

Who does it suit? New golfers and improvers first. The two loops mean you can play just nine holes while you are still building your game, and the open, walkable layout keeps the pressure low. Families and social groups fit easily here too, and there is a dedicated ladies programme for women who want to start or play regularly with others.

Play first, no handicap needed

Westerpark is a pay-and-play course, and this is its friendliest feature: no handicap card, no GVB, no membership. You book a tee time online and you play. A green fee is €75 for 18 holes and €37.50 for nine, so a shorter round is an easy, low-cost way to begin.

Practice is a real strength. There is a covered driving range, a putting green and a short-game area, plus an on-site academy — so you can warm up your full swing, roll a few putts and sharpen your chipping before you tee off. A restaurant and a bar with a terrace round out the day, whether you come for nine holes or a full round with friends.

Marina's note for learners

Two loops and no handicap barrier make this a course I would point a newer player toward — start with nine holes, warm up on the covered range, and let those water-flanked approach shots teach you the value of a repeatable, controlled swing.

Water rewards a soft touch

Westerpark asks for control more than raw power — with water in play and two gentle loops, a confident short game and a steady approach shot save more strokes here than a long drive. That is exactly the part of the game I most enjoy teaching a newer player: a repeatable swing, a calm putting stroke, and the confidence to enjoy every hole.

Can I take a lesson with Marina Romanik before playing here?

Marina Romanik teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and at Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen — not at Westerpark itself. A lesson with her is a great way to build the short-game and approach skills that save the most strokes on a course like this. Book online, send a WhatsApp or give her a call.
