Golfclub Veluwse sits inside Kroondomein het Loo, the royal domain near Hoog Soeren, and it is a course you play through the forest rather than around it. From the club’s own description, the layout is a 9-hole woodland course, par 36 over 2,448 metres, with the design credited to Ken Cotton. Nine holes, not eighteen — so a round is a shorter, tree-lined loop, and many players walk it twice for a fuller day.
The club points to the 9th as its stand-out hole: it drops steeply away from the tee and then climbs sharply back up to the green. That kind of elevation change is rare on a Dutch course, and it gives the closing hole real character.
Golfers rate it warmly. On LeadingCourses it scores 8.3 out of 10 from 225 ratings, and on Hole19 it holds 4.6 out of 5 across 39 ratings — steady numbers for a small club in the trees.
Suits: handicap holders who enjoy a quiet, scenic round among mature woodland first of all, and then families and juniors with an NGF card, since the club runs a real junior programme and a golf academy on site.
Golfclub Veluwse is NGF-affiliated and welcomes visitors, but access is by introduction. You need a valid handicap — an NGF card or an EGA equivalent — and an introduction from a member. Tee times can be booked online through the club’s website. The green fee is €30 for nine holes and €65 for eighteen.
For practice there is plenty here: a covered driving range, a putting green, a short-game area and practice bunkers, plus a pro shop, a restaurant and a bar with a terrace. A comfortable base for a full morning of golf on the Veluwe.
★ Suits: handicap holders who enjoy a scenic, tree-lined round among mature woodland; families and juniors with an NGF card looking to develop their game in a well-equipped club.

Marina's note for learners
Before heading here, I would spend time on sloped-lie shots — the 9th plays from an uneven tee and climbs back sharply, and balance at impact matters more than power. That kind of practice transfers to every woodland course you will ever play.

This is a course that rewards a repeatable swing over raw distance, and that 9th hole shows why — an uneven tee below, a steep climb back to the green above. Sloped lies ask you to keep your balance through impact instead of swinging harder. That is exactly the kind of thing I like to work on before a woodland round: steady feet, a smooth tempo, and a shot you can trust when the ground is not flat.
Yes — you need a valid handicap (an NGF card or EGA equivalent) and an introduction from a member. No membership is required, but the introduction rule applies to all visitors. Check with a member or contact the club at office@veluwsegolfclub.nl before your first visit.
Nine holes cost €30; playing the loop twice for a fuller round of eighteen costs €65. Prices can vary by day and season — check veluwsegolfclub.nl or call 055-5191275 for the latest rates.
Yes — tee times can be booked directly through the club website at veluwsegolfclub.nl. Booking ahead is a good idea, especially at weekends when the woodland course is popular.
Very much so. Golfclub Veluwse runs a dedicated junior programme and a full golf academy on site, so young players can take lessons and develop their game in a relaxed, tree-lined setting. Juniors do need an NGF card to play the main course.
On site you will find a covered driving range, a putting green, a short-game area, practice bunkers, a golf academy, a pro shop, a restaurant, and a bar with a terrace — plus buggies for hire and lockers with showers. A comfortable base for a full day on the Veluwe.
Marina teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and at Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen — not at Golfclub Veluwse. Book a lesson online, send a WhatsApp, or give her a call. Working on sloped-lie shots beforehand is especially useful for the Veluwse's hilly 9th hole.
