Golfclub Toxandria sits on rolling sandy heathland in a wooded corner of North Brabant, and it has been here a long time. The club dates to 1928, and the course was laid out by Harry S. Colt — one of the great names in golf architecture. Colt liked to use the land as he found it, and here the fairways run over naturally rolling terrain, with heather and trees framing the holes. The round finishes at a terrace on the 18th green, a pleasant place to sit after the last putt drops.
Golfers rate it warmly. On LeadingCourses it holds 8.4 out of 10 from 177 ratings, and on Hole19 it scores 4.6 out of 5 from 75 golfers (checked 25 September 2026). Those are the numbers of a course people enjoy and return to. It plays as a par 72 over 18 holes, and it is a heathland course with real character — the kind that asks you to think your way around, not just swing hard.
Who does it suit? Toxandria is a challenging course, so it rewards golfers who already have the basics in place and want to test themselves on a classic Colt design. That said, the club has a genuine junior program and welcomes young golfers warmly, so families with a keen junior will feel at home here too.
Toxandria is pay-and-play, and visitors are welcome — but you will need a valid handicap (GVB) before you tee off, as the course is built for golfers with real course experience. The green fee for 18 holes sits at €140, in the higher price band, which reflects the quality of the layout and the full set of facilities. For practice, the club is well set up: a covered driving range, a putting green, a short-game area and practice bunkers cover every part of the game. There is a golf academy on site, a pro shop, buggy and trolley rental, and a restaurant with that terrace by the final green. So you can arrive early, warm up properly, and make a full day of it.
★ Suits: experienced and club golfers ready to test themselves on a classic Colt design; juniors keen to develop with a dedicated program and full practice setup.

Marina's note for learners
A Colt heathland layout rewards placement and course management over power — I love working on those skills with students before they take on a course like this. Spend time on your tee-shot shape and short game and it will pay off on almost every hole.

Colt’s heathland holes ask for placement over power — a fairway found on the right side, a ball kept below the heather, a tee shot that respects the trees. That is exactly the kind of thoughtful, repeatable golf I most enjoy teaching, and a little work on your shape and your short game before a round here pays off on almost every hole.
Yes — Toxandria requires a valid handicap (GVB) to play. The course is built for golfers with real course experience, so have your handicap card ready before you tee off.

Toxandria is a challenging heathland course that rewards golfers who already have the basics in place — it is best suited to those with some course experience and a valid handicap. If you are building towards a round here, a few lessons are a great way to prepare.
Absolutely. The club has a dedicated junior program and warmly welcomes young golfers. The covered driving range, putting green, and short-game area give juniors a complete setup for developing every part of their game.

Marina teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen — not at Toxandria itself. A lesson at either location is a great way to sharpen your tee-shot shape and short game before taking on a classic Colt heathland layout like this one.
