Golfclub Hitland is a public parkland course in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, opened in 1995 and set inside Park Hitland — the green recreation area in the flat polder landscape between Gouda and Rotterdam. Its own website welcomes everyone to play: this is one of the friendlier front doors into Dutch golf, because no handicap or GVB is required. You book a tee time online, you turn up, you play.
The reception it gets from golfers is warm. On LeadingCourses it holds 7.6 out of 10 from 438 ratings, and on Hole19 it scores 4.1 out of 5 from 128 ratings (checked 26 September 2026). Those are steady, happy numbers for an open public course, and they match the picture the club paints of itself: relaxed, accessible, and easy to visit for a first or a fiftieth round.
The green fee stays in the friendly € band — around €55 for 18 holes and €35 for nine — and the course runs year-round, so a winter round is just as welcome as a summer one.
Suits: this is a lovely home for beginners and improving players. The full 18 holes give you a real course to grow into, and everything you need to practise sits on one site.
The practice set-up here is genuinely strong. The club lists a covered, floodlit driving range — which means rain or a dark winter evening never stops your session — plus a putting green, a short-game area, and a golf academy on site. There is a pro shop, and a restaurant with a bar and terrace for after your round. Buggies and trolleys are available to hire.
For a learning golfer, that combination is gold. You can warm up, work your short game, play your holes, and refuel, all in one visit, and no handicap card stands between you and the first tee.
★ Suits: beginners taking their first rounds on a full-length course, improving players building a consistent game, and social golfers who want to book and play without a handicap card.

Marina's note for learners
I love pointing early-stage golfers to open public courses like this one — no handicap required means you can focus entirely on your swing, not paperwork. Arrive, warm up on the covered driving range, work the short-game area, and let 18 holes do the rest.

An open parkland course in the polder gives you space and gentle, walkable holes — the kind of layout that rewards a repeatable, well-timed swing far more than raw power. That steady, consistent strike is exactly the part of the game I most enjoy teaching, and it is what turns a pleasant round at a course like Hitland into a really satisfying one.
No handicap is required. Golfclub Hitland is a public course open to everyone — members and visitors alike. Just book a tee time online and you are ready to play.
Green fees are in the affordable (€) range: around €55 for 18 holes and €35 for nine. You can check the latest prices and book your tee time at hitland.nl.
Yes. Online booking is available directly through hitland.nl. The course is open year-round, so you can plan a round in any season.
Very much so. No handicap is needed, there is a short course for your very first holes, and the layout is open and walkable. A covered floodlit driving range, putting green, short-game area, and on-site golf academy mean you can warm up, practise, and play all in one visit.
The club has a covered, floodlit driving range (great for rainy days or evening sessions), a putting green, a short-game area, and a golf academy on site. After your round, there is a restaurant with a bar and terrace, plus buggy and trolley hire.
