Helmondse Golfclub ‘Overbrug’ is a nine-hole parkland course on the edge of Helmond, in Noord-Brabant. From the club’s own description, the holes sit beside a nature area along the river Schevelingseloop, which gives the round its green, quiet character. The club was founded in 1989 and plays as a proper NGF-affiliated club, not a pay-and-play field.
Golfers rate it warmly. On LeadingCourses it holds 7.9 out of 10 from 123 ratings, and on Hole19 it scores 4.1 out of 5 across 38 golfers. Those are steady, friendly numbers for a compact club, and they match the picture the club paints of itself: relaxed, welcoming, well kept.
Who does a course like this suit best? New golfers and juniors, first. Nine holes is the perfect size when you are learning — you finish, you are not tired, and you want to come back. The club is openly beginner-friendly and runs its own junior programme, so young players have a real home here. It suits improving golfers too, anyone who wants a calm, walkable round close to nature.
Visitors are welcome, usually with an introduction from a member, and you can book your tee time online through the club’s own website. You do need a valid handicap — a Dutch GVB or a recognised international card — because the club is NGF-affiliated. The green fee is around €33.50 for nine holes and €44 for the full round, which is honest value for a club course.
For practice, there is plenty. The club has a covered driving range, so you can warm up in any weather, plus a putting green and a short-game area. There is also an on-site academy where lessons are given. After golf, the restaurant and terrace look out over that peaceful riverside setting — a nice place to sit down and talk over your round.
★ Suits: beginners finding their footing, juniors in a dedicated programme, and improving players who want a calm, walkable parkland round.

Marina's note for learners
A compact nine-hole layout with a covered driving range and an on-site academy is a strong learning environment — I tell my students to focus on wedge play and putting here, because those parkland greens reward precision over distance.

A tight, green nine like this rewards control over power — smart placement off the tee and a soft, confident short game around those small greens. That is exactly the part of golf I most love to teach: the wedges and the putting that quietly turn a good round into a great one. Marina Romanik will help you build a swing you can trust on a friendly course like this one.
Yes — a valid handicap is required. Bring your Dutch GVB card or a recognised international handicap certificate. The club is NGF-affiliated, so a Dutch golf card is accepted at the bar. No membership is needed; visitors are welcome.

Very much so. The club is openly beginner-friendly and runs a dedicated junior programme. The compact nine-hole layout lets new players settle in without pressure, and the covered driving range means you can warm up whatever the weather.
There is a covered driving range, a putting green, and a short-game area — a solid set-up for working on every part of your game before or after your round. An on-site golf academy offers lessons as well.
Marina Romanik is a PGA-certified instructor who teaches golfers of all levels and speaks Dutch, English, Ukrainian, and Russian — but her lessons take place at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen, not at HGC 'Overbrug'. A lesson with her is a great way to prepare before you play here.
