Golf- en Countryclub Geijsteren sits on the Landgoed Geijsteren estate in Noord-Limburg, and it plays in two clear moods. From the club’s own description, the first thirteen holes wind quietly through mature woodland; the final five, holes 14 to 18, were added in 1985 and open up to water and wind. Donald Steel and Frank Pennink laid out this par-72 course — a real designer pedigree — and the club dates back to 1974. It stretches to 4,912 metres and the club puts it in the challenging band, so it rewards a player who can shape a shot and keep the ball in play among the trees.
Golfers rate it warmly. On LeadingCourses it holds 8.1 out of 10 from 412 ratings, and Hole19 golfers give it 4.6 out of 5 across 45 ratings. LeadingCourses also placed it in its Golfers’ Choice 2026 list at number 7 of 24 in Limburg — a nice sign of how the people who play it feel about their round. The estate carries GEO certification for sustainable management, so the woodland setting is looked after with care.
So who is it for? A challenging woodland course like this suits confident players first, the ones who enjoy a course that asks them to think their way around. But Geijsteren does not shut the door on newer golfers. The club is beginner-friendly, welcomes juniors with a dedicated junior program, and keeps a short course to build confidence step by step.
Geijsteren is a members’ club that welcomes visitors by introduction. You will need a valid handicap (a Dutch GVB or equivalent), and you can book a tee time online through the club. The visitor green fee is around €75 for 18 holes and €40 for 9. For practice there is a covered, floodlit driving range, a putting green and a short-game area, plus a golf academy on site — everything you need to warm up or work on a weak spot before you tee off. When the round is done, the restaurant, bar and terrace are there for the part every golfer loves.
★ Suits: confident players who enjoy shaping shots through woodland and wind, golfers developing course management, and juniors with a dedicated program.

Marina's note for learners
A layout that splits from mature woodland into open water and wind tests two very different skills — shot control under trees, then calm decision-making on exposed holes — and building those in sequence is exactly how I structure lessons for players ready to move up. Before you go, remember a valid handicap and introduction through the club are both required.

Play video · privacy-friendly playerTrees on thirteen holes and then water and wind on the closing five — Geijsteren asks for a repeatable swing and calm decisions far more than raw distance. That balance of course management and a reliable shot shape is exactly the part of the game I most enjoy teaching, so a player feels ready for both halves of a course like this.

The course itself is in the challenging band — 18 woodland and water holes that reward course management — but the club is beginner-friendly. There is a short course to build confidence, a covered and floodlit driving range, a putting green, a short-game area, and a golf academy with lessons on site.

A lesson with Marina is a great way to prepare for a course like this, especially the woodland shot-making and the demanding water holes that close the round.
