Nine holes in the city

Golfclub Prinses Wilhelmina — most people simply call it Golfclub Enschede — sits somewhere unusual: right inside the built-up city of Enschede, in Overijssel. From the club’s own description, this is a real parkland course, threaded with streams and water features and framed by old trees and rhododendrons that turn colour with the season. Nine holes, laid out with more character than the small number suggests.

Golfers seem to agree the setting works. On LeadingCourses the course carries 7.3 out of 10 from 30 ratings, and on Hole19 it scores 4.2 out of 5 from 19 (checked 26 September 2026). Not the crowd-numbers of a big resort, but warm, steady scores from people who have played it.

The club is NGF-affiliated and welcomes visitors — with one clear condition. You need a valid handicap card (GVB) and an introduction from a member to play here. It is a moderate course, and that access rule tells you who it is really for: golfers who already have their handicap and want a calm, green round without leaving town. A 9-hole green fee is around €25, and playing the loop twice for a full 18 comes to about €35.

What’s here to warm up

There is a driving range and a putting green to loosen up before the first tee, and the club runs its own golf academy with instruction on site. A restaurant is there for after the round, and buggies can be hired if you’d rather ride between the holes.

Marina's note for learners

Water and mature trees reward controlled ball flight over raw distance — a course like this is a great test of everything you have worked on. I often tell students that the range is where you build the swing, and the course is where you learn to trust it.

The part I’d work on first

A parkland course with streams and water in play rewards a controlled approach far more than raw distance — you want to land the ball where you aimed, not just far. Many new golfers tell the same story: the ball flies beautifully on the range, then drifts toward the water the moment it counts. That gap between the range and the course is exactly the part I most enjoy teaching.

Good to know

Do I need a handicap card (GVB) to play at Golfclub Enschede?

Yes — a valid GVB card (or equivalent handicap certificate) is required, and you also need an introduction from a current member. The club is NGF-affiliated and welcomes visiting golfers who meet those conditions. If you are still working toward your first handicap, a lesson series with Marina Romanik is a great way to get there.

How much does a round cost at Golfclub Enschede?

A 9-hole round is around €25; playing the loop twice for a full 18 holes is around €35. Check pwgolf.nl or call the club on +31 (0)6 26 07 15 44 for the latest rates, as prices can vary by day.

Can I book a tee time online?

Online booking is not available at this club. Contact the club directly by phone or email (info@pwgolf.nl) to arrange your start time.

What practice facilities are available?

The club has a driving range and a putting green to warm up on, plus an on-site golf academy with instruction. After your round you can relax in the restaurant, and buggies are available to hire.

Is Golfclub Enschede suitable for beginners?

The course is moderate in difficulty and requires a valid GVB card, so it is best suited to golfers who already have their handicap. If you are new to the game, a few lessons first is the perfect route — earn your card and then enjoy every hole with confidence.

Does Marina Romanik give lessons at Golfclub Enschede?

Marina teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and at Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen — not at this club. She gives lessons in Dutch, English, Ukrainian, and Russian. Book a session with her and she will have your game ready for every parkland hole here.
