Golfclub Domburg has been part of the Zeeland coast since 1914, laid out among the dunes to a design by E.C. Warren. It plays as 18 holes across two loops, par 70, in true links style — rolling dune ground, grass bunkers instead of sand ones, and sea views over Walcheren from several tees. From the club’s own pages, this is classic seaside golf: firm turf, open sky, and the wind as a real part of the game.

Golfers rate it warmly. On Hole19 the course scores 4.6 out of 5 from 40 ratings — a strong number for a links this size, and a sign that the people who play it come back happy.

It is a genuinely challenging links. The wind and the grass bunkers make every round feel a little different, and the course rewards a steady, repeatable swing far more than raw power. That is what makes it a lovely test for improving golfers building a wind-proof game, while beginners are welcome too — the club’s golf academy is there to help newer players grow at their own pace. Juniors are welcome as well.

Playing here as a visitor

You do not need to be a member. Domburg is pay-and-play, open to visiting golfers, and you can book your tee time online at the club website (or call the secretariat). A valid GVB or an equivalent national handicap card is required, and because the club is NGF-affiliated, any recognised national handicap is accepted.

Practice is well covered: a covered driving range, a putting green, a short-game area and practice bunkers. A 9-hole round is €65, and there is a restaurant in the clubhouse and buggies to rent if you would rather ride.

Marina's note for learners

On a links course like Domburg, the first thing I teach is a compact, repeatable swing and a confident short game — dune turf and sea wind punish loose shots quickly. A few focused sessions on ball flight and recovery will help you read the ground and enjoy every hole.

What Domburg asks of you

A links like this lives and dies on ball control in the wind and a short game that can recover from those grass bunkers. That is exactly the part of the game I most enjoy teaching — a compact, repeatable swing and confident chipping, so you can read the dune ground and keep smiling whatever the sea breeze does.

Good to know

Yes. Beginners are welcome, and the club has everything to help you develop: a covered driving range, a putting green, a short-game area, practice bunkers, and a golf academy with lessons on site. Juniors are welcome too.

Is there somewhere to eat after the round?

Yes. There is a restaurant in the clubhouse — a good spot to relax after a round on the dunes. Buggies are also available to rent if you prefer not to walk the course.

Can I take a lesson with Marina Romanik before playing here?

Marina teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and at Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen — not at Golfclub Domburg itself. A few sessions there are an ideal way to prepare: links golf rewards a compact, repeatable swing and a confident short game, and Marina's coaching will help you handle the dune turf and sea wind with real confidence.
