Three loops through Flevoland woods

Golfclub Almeerderhout sits in the woods of southern Flevoland, near Almere, and has grown here since 1986. It is a parkland course — trees, water and open fairways — laid out as 27 holes in three loops of nine, so you can play a gentle nine, or link two loops for eighteen, or take on all twenty-seven. The full round is par 72 over roughly 9,000 metres. What sets the setting apart is the wildlife: the club describes a wooded landscape looking out over the Gooimeer, Markermeer and IJmeer, home to songbirds, birds of prey, swans, ducks, rabbits, foxes and even deer. You are playing golf inside a small nature reserve.

Golfers rate it warmly. On LeadingCourses it scores 8.0 out of 10 from 489 ratings, and on Hole19 it holds 4.4 out of 5 across 191 ratings (both checked 26 September 2026). That is a steady, well-liked course, not a one-visit novelty.

Suits: it is a genuine parkland course with a challenging character, so stronger players who enjoy shaping shots between trees will feel at home. But the three-loop layout also makes it kind to newcomers — you choose your distance, and beginners and juniors are warmly welcomed, with a dedicated junior programme.

What a visitor needs

Almeerderhout is pay-and-play, so you do not need a membership — but you do need a valid handicap (GVB or equivalent), and tee times are booked online through the club. A green fee is €55 for nine holes and €99 for eighteen. Before you head out, there is a full practice area to warm up: a covered, floodlit driving range, a putting green, a short-game area and practice bunkers, plus an on-site academy. The clubhouse has a restaurant and terrace, buggies and clubs to rent, lockers and showers, and the course is wheelchair accessible and open year-round.

Marina's note for learners

A covered driving range, short-game area and practice bunkers mean you can warm up every part of your game before stepping onto the fairway. I often point students to a three-loop course like this — you choose the nine that fits where your game is right now, and build confidence from there.

Trees reward a repeatable swing

A wooded parkland course asks you to find the fairway more than to hit it far — trees on both sides punish a wild drive far more than a short one. That makes the tee shot the shot to trust here, and building a swing you can repeat under pressure is exactly the part of the game I most enjoy teaching before a round like this.

Good to know

Do I need a handicap to play at Golfclub Almeerderhout?

Yes — a valid GVB card or handicap certificate is required to play. No membership is needed; the club is pay-and-play and welcomes visiting golfers who meet the handicap requirement. Tee times can be booked online at almeerderhout.nl.

How much does a green fee cost?

A nine-hole round costs €55 and eighteen holes costs €99. You can book your tee time directly on the club's website.

Is the course suitable for beginners and juniors?

Yes. Beginners and juniors are warmly welcomed, and the club runs a dedicated junior programme. The 27-hole layout is split into three separate nine-hole loops, so new players can start with a single loop and build confidence at their own pace.

What practice facilities are available before a round?

There is a covered, floodlit driving range, a putting green, a short-game area, practice bunkers and an on-site academy — everything you need to warm up before heading out onto the fairway.

How far is Golfclub Almeerderhout from Utrecht, and is it open year-round?

It is roughly a 30-minute drive from Utrecht. The course is located at Watersnipweg 19-21 in Almere and is open year-round.

Can I take a lesson with Marina Romanik at Almeerderhout?

On-site lessons are available through the club's own academy. Marina Romanik teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen — not at Almeerderhout — but a lesson with her is a great way to prepare your swing before taking on one of the three loops here. You can book online or reach her by phone or WhatsApp.
