Golfbaan Spaarnwoude lies in the Spaarnwoude nature and recreation area, in the green belt between Amsterdam and the North Sea coast. Gerard Jol designed it and the course opened in 1977. From the club’s own information, it is a parkland course of 27 holes, par 72, laid out as six loops through wooded ground with water running through it. That shape is the point: you mix and match the loops into the round you want, long or short, easier or firmer.
Golfers on LeadingCourses give it 7.5 out of 10 from 733 ratings (checked 26 September 2026). That is a lot of players and a warm, steady score.
Spaarnwoude is pay-and-play, so you do not need a membership to play here, and you book your tee time online. There is a little nuance worth knowing before you come. The 27 championship holes — loops E, D and C — ask for Handicap 54. But loops A, B and the par-3 loop F have no minimum, so a complete beginner can walk out on three of the shorter loops with no GVB card at all. It is a parkland course that lets you grow into it, loop by loop.
A 9-hole round is €38.50 and 18 holes is €60.50, and the course is open year-round.
There is plenty here to warm up on. From the club’s facilities, Spaarnwoude has a covered, floodlit driving range (good for an evening before work), a putting green, a short-game area and practice bunkers, plus a full golf academy on site. Club and trolley rental mean you can turn up light.
All of this, with the shorter no-handicap loops, is why Spaarnwoude suits beginners and families first, then improving players who want variety from one visit to the next, and any visitor who would rather play a round than join a club.
★ Suits: players building confidence on the no-handicap loops, improving players working toward Handicap 54, and visitors who prefer to play without joining a club.

Marina's note for learners
The six-loop layout is one of the most practical ways to grow as a golfer — start on the loops that need no GVB card, earn your Handicap 54, and you unlock the full 27. On parkland like this I love working on course management: reading trees and water to choose where the ball lands, not just how far to swing.

Jol routed these loops through woods and around water, so where you leave the ball matters more than how hard you hit it. A round here rewards course management — reading the trees and the water, then choosing where to land. On parkland like this that is the part of the game I most love teaching: placing the ball so every next shot is an easy one.
Yes — the three championship loops (E, D and C, totalling 27 holes) require Handicap 54. However, loops A, B and the par-3 loop F have no minimum, so complete beginners can play those three shorter loops without a GVB card at all. No membership is needed either way; Spaarnwoude is pay-and-play for everyone.
A 9-hole round is €38.50 and 18 holes is €60.50. The course is open year-round, so you can visit any time of year.

Yes. The three shorter loops (A, B and the par-3 F loop) require no GVB card or handicap, so beginners and families can jump straight in. There is also a full golf academy on site if you want a lesson before your round.
There is a covered, floodlit driving range (great for evening sessions), a putting green, a short-game area, practice bunkers and a full golf academy. Club and trolley rental are available on site, so you can arrive light.
Marina teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen — not at Spaarnwoude. A lesson with her is excellent preparation for any parkland course, especially the course-management skills that Spaarnwoude rewards. Book online, by WhatsApp, or by phone.
