Golfbaan Het Woold sits right on the edge of Nationaal Park De Groote Peel, in Heusden near Asten in Noord-Brabant. The club describes 27 heathland holes that wind through four different natural landscapes — a real variety of scenery on one card. Han Wessels designed the course, which opened in 2000. It plays to par 72 over 5,816 metres, with a course rating of 70.5 and a slope of 125, so there is enough to think about for a golfer who likes a proper challenge.
Golfers rate it highly. On LeadingCourses it holds 8.5 out of 10 from 963 ratings, and it takes the 2026 Golfers’ Choice as #5 in North Brabant. On Hole19 it scores 4.5 out of 5 from 135 golfers. What stands out most in Het Woold’s record is hospitality: LeadingCourses has named it the most hospitable golf course in the Netherlands for ten years running, and best price-quality for ten years too.
Suits: this is a warm, welcoming place first. There is a shorter course on site, so a beginner has a friendly spot to start and grow. But the main 27 holes reward a golfer who enjoys a thoughtful, varied round and good value for a full day out.
Het Woold welcomes visitors and you can book a tee time online at any hour on the club’s website — no phone call needed. For the main course you need a valid handicap card (GVB or equivalent). If you are still working toward yours, that shorter course is a lovely place to play in the meantime, and the on-site academy offers lessons to help you get there sooner.
An 18-hole green fee is around €89.50. For 27 well-kept heathland holes and that ten-year price-quality record, that is honest value. To practise, there is a covered and floodlit driving range, a putting green, a short-game area, and practice bunkers, plus a pro shop, buggy and club rental, and Restaurant Volentieri with a terrace for after your round.
★ Suits: golfers who enjoy a varied heathland challenge and honest value; beginners welcome on the shorter course with on-site academy support.

Marina's note for learners
Heathland courses are wonderful teachers — natural terrain demands placement over power, and building a repeatable swing and a tidy short game is exactly the work that pays off here. I would recommend a round to any golfer who is ready to test their game in a genuinely varied setting.
Courses open daily from 08:00; check the club's baanstatus page for real-time conditions. Restaurant reservations recommended: 0493-560 462 or reserveringen@restaurant-volentieri.nl.

Play video · privacy-friendly playerHeathland golf and a slope of 125 ask for placement over pure power — the ball wants to stay on line and out of the heather, and four changing landscapes mean no two nines feel the same. Building a steady, repeatable swing and a smart short game is exactly the work that pays off on a course like this, and it is the part I most enjoy teaching.
Yes — a valid handicap card (GVB or equivalent) is required for the main course. No membership is needed; visitors are welcome to book directly. If you are still working toward your GVB, the shorter course on site is a great place to start, and the on-site academy's lessons will help you get there sooner.

Very much so. There is a shorter course on site to build your confidence while you work toward your GVB, lessons are available at the on-site academy, and the covered floodlit driving range, putting green, and short-game area give you everything you need to improve at your own pace.
Marina teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen, not at Het Woold itself. A lesson with her at one of those clubs is a great way to sharpen your game — especially your course management and short game — before heading out to a heathland challenge like this one.
The club is at Gezandebaan 46a, 5725 TN Heusden (Asten) in Noord-Brabant, right on the edge of Nationaal Park De Groote Peel. Free parking is available on site. From Utrecht the drive takes around 90 minutes.
