Golf & Country Club Lauswolt sits on a 100-hectare estate deep in the Friesian forest near Beetsterzwaag, its outer holes running along the Koningsdiep river. From the club’s own description, this is a parkland course of 18 holes, par 73, over 6,146 metres, laid out in two loops through birch woodland, heathland and water. It opened in 1964, and the layout carries the hands of three respected designers — Frank Pennink, Donald Steel, and Mackenzie & Ebert.
Other golfers rate it highly. On LeadingCourses it holds 8.4 from 502 ratings, and on Hole19 it scores 4.6 from 74 — and LeadingCourses has named it Best Golf Resort in the Netherlands more than once. That reputation fits a course set inside a proper forest estate rather than on open polder.
Suits: this is a challenging parkland, so confident players who enjoy tree-lined fairways and a few water holes will feel most at home. But Lauswolt is also beginner-friendly, with an active junior programme and a golf academy on site, so newer golfers are genuinely welcome to grow here. The practice side is strong: a covered, floodlit driving range means you can work on your swing in any weather, backed by a putting green, a short-game area and practice bunkers — exactly the places where scores are saved.
Visitors are welcome, and you can book a tee time online. Lauswolt asks for a valid handicap (GVB or equivalent) and an introduction — either through a member or a stay at the estate hotel. That keeps the forest fairways quiet and beautifully kept for everyone who plays. Green fees are €84 for 18 holes and €55 for 9, and the clubhouse restaurant and sunny terrace round off the day.
★ Suits: confident players who enjoy tree-lined parkland and water holes; beginners and juniors with the golf academy on site.

Marina's note for learners
Before a round on a tree-lined parkland like Lauswolt, I focus lessons on a repeatable tee shot and clean iron contact — the two skills that keep your ball on the short grass and out of the trees. Any golfer builds both quickly with deliberate practice.

Before a day on a tree-lined parkland like this, the part I most enjoy teaching is a repeatable tee shot and clean iron contact — the two things that keep you on the short grass and out of the forest.
Yes — a valid GVB card or equivalent handicap certificate is required. You also need an introduction from a member or a stay at the estate hotel. No membership is needed; many guests come through the hotel or are introduced by a member for the day.

There is a covered, floodlit driving range — so you can practise in any weather — plus a putting green, a short-game area and practice bunkers. These are exactly the areas that save the most shots on a tree-lined parkland like this.
Yes, the clubhouse has a full restaurant and a sunny terrace, ideal for lunch or a drink after your round. Parking is available on site at Van Harinxmaweg 8-A in Beetsterzwaag.
Marina teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen, not at Lauswolt itself. A lesson with her before your visit is a great way to get the most out of those tree-lined fairways and water holes — book online, send a WhatsApp, or give her a call.
