Golf & Country Club Crossmoor sits at Weert in Limburg, laid out through heathland where the Laurabos forest and the meandering Tungelroysche stream shape the ground. The 18-hole course, par 72, opened in 1988 and was designed by Joan Dudok van Heel and Hans Hertzberger, who set two loops so that open, airy holes alternate with quieter ones enclosed by trees and water. The best-known moment comes at the par-3 8th: a green sitting on its own island, fully ringed by water. The 3rd is a dogleg with a generous, wide fairway — room to open your shoulders before the round starts asking questions.
Golfers on LeadingCourses give Crossmoor 8.2 out of 10 across 399 ratings — steady, warm numbers from players who keep returning for the heather and the water. On Hole19 it holds 4.5 out of 5 from 56 ratings, the same picture from a different crowd. Scores like these tell you a course that rewards attention: heathland golf asks for a repeatable swing and a clear head on every shot.
Suits: handicap players who enjoy a genuine test through forest and water, juniors with a real programme of their own, and newer golfers ready to grow into it — the on-site academy and the practice short course give beginners a home here right beside experienced members.
You do not need to be a member to play Crossmoor, and visitors are warmly welcome. A valid handicap is required for the 18-hole course, and tee times can be booked online — the course is open year-round, so there is usually room in the diary. Green fees are around €42 for 9 holes and €72 for 18.
Practice is well looked after here: a covered, floodlit driving range, a putting green, a chipping and pitching area, and practice bunkers, so you can warm up properly or work on your game well into the evening. There is a restaurant, a bar and terrace, buggy, club and trolley rental, plus lockers and showers.
★ Suits: handicap players seeking a rewarding heathland test through forest and water, juniors with a dedicated programme, and beginners building confidence through the on-site academy and practice facilities.

Marina's note for learners
Before a round at a heathland course like Crossmoor, I focus on building a steady, repeatable tempo — the swing that trusts its yardage when water frames the target. Newcomers will get the most from the academy and practice facilities before stepping onto the full 18.

Crossmoor’s heathland holes and that water-ringed par 3 reward a steady, repeatable tempo over raw distance — trusting your yardage when water frames the target is exactly the calm I most enjoy teaching. Golfers who love wooded, natural courses often say the same thing: the quiet of the trees settles the mind, and the swing feels freer for it.

Marina teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen, not at Crossmoor itself — but a lesson with her before your round is great preparation for Crossmoor's heathland holes and that island-green par 3. Book online, send a WhatsApp, or give her a call.
