De Utrechtse sits in Houten, in the province of Utrecht — about 7 minutes from the city. From the club’s own description, this is a parkland course founded in 1986, with a sunny terrace that looks out over Kasteel Heemstede and the 9th hole. Nine holes wind through mature trees over roughly 2,510 metres. Golfers on Hole19 give it 4.3 out of 5 from 80 ratings.
Who does it suit? Golfers who want a warm, familiar club close to home. There is a separate short course where new players build confidence hole by hole, a golf academy right on site, a ladies programme, and room for group events. The driving range is covered and floodlit, so you can keep practising in winter and after dark. And it stays open year-round, which I love — golf should not have a season.
De Utrechtse is a members’ club, but visitors are welcome too. You need a valid handicap (GVB), and you can book your tee time online in advance. Green fees are mid-range: €42 for 9 holes and €70 for 18. When you finish, the clubhouse restaurant and that bar terrace are waiting, with the castle view to enjoy.
★ Suits: golfers developing their game, ladies looking for a structured programme, groups and corporate events, and handicap-holding visitors who want a proper members' course within reach of Utrecht.

Marina's note for learners
Just seven minutes from Chi Chi Golf, Nieuwegeinse Golfclub is one of the first members' courses I mention when a student is ready to play a handicap round — the short course and the covered, floodlit range mean they can arrive well-prepared. I always say: build one reliable iron and a tidy chip, and this parkland nine will reward every lesson.

A parkland nine like this rewards position over power. The trees and the shape of each hole matter far more than raw distance. Before a round here, the part I most enjoy teaching is one simple, repeatable swing and a dependable short game, so every green feels within reach.

A good fit. De Utrechtse has a separate short course where new players can build confidence hole by hole, plus an on-site golf academy and a covered, floodlit driving range that stays open year-round — so you can keep practising whatever the weather.
Yes — the clubhouse has a restaurant and a sunny bar terrace with a panoramic view of Kasteel Heemstede and the 9th hole. A lovely way to round off a day on the course.
Marina Romanik teaches at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen — not at De Utrechtse itself. That said, the club is just 7 minutes from Chi Chi Golf, so a lesson there is a practical way to prepare. De Utrechtse also has its own on-site academy if you'd like coaching right where you play.
