The Netherlands is flat, so a golf course that climbs is a treat. De Hooge Rotterdamsche sits on a ridge about 25 metres high in the Rottemeren area, and from the top you look out over the Rotterdam skyline. It is an 18-hole parkland course, par 72, and those real elevation changes are what set it apart from the polder courses around it.
Golfers rate it warmly. On LeadingCourses it holds 8.3 out of 10 from 1,201 ratings, and on Hole19 it scores 4.5 out of 5 from 146 golfers — strong, steady numbers that tell you people come back. Google reviewers give it 4.4 out of 5. The recurring theme in all of them is the same: the views and the shape of the land.
This is a course that asks a little of you. It is a genuinely challenging round, and it suits players who already have some rounds behind them and want holes that give a bit back for a good shot. If you are working towards that, De Hooge Rotterdamsche is a lovely goal to keep in mind.
You are welcome here every day, and you can book your tee time online — quick and easy, open year-round. To play, you need a valid handicap up to 54, so bring your card. A full 18 holes is €72; a 9-hole round is €40.
For practice there is plenty: a covered, lit driving range, a putting green, a short-game area with practice bunkers, and a golf academy. Afterwards the restaurant and bar terrace look out over the Rottemeren — a nice way to finish.
★ Suits: handicap holders looking for a rewarding parkland challenge, experienced players who want genuine elevation changes, and golfers drawn by strong practice facilities.

Marina's note for learners
Playing on slopes changes everything — your stance, ball position and commitment all shift when the ground tilts. A session or two on uneven lies will help you enjoy every hole here rather than just manage them.

Playing on a slope is a real skill. The ball sits above or below your feet, and your stance has to change with it — this is exactly the kind of thing I love teaching, because once you understand it, an uneven lie stops being scary and starts being fun. Build a steady, repeatable swing first, and a course with elevation like this becomes a joy rather than a puzzle.
